Jenn Rhubright

Where did you grow up?
Lansdale PA, a small blue collar suburb of Philly.

What is spinning in your cd player right now?
Colin Hay, Going Somewhere

What was the best live show you have ever seen?
Toss up between 3 shows:

1. 1996 Charlottesville, VA: Flemming and John- the girl can sing like no other and the band covered Misty Mountain Hop whilst singing the lyrics to Sonny and Cher's "I got you Babe"

2. April 2002: Clare Quilty opened for Siouxsie and the Banshees in Washington DC. I never got into Siouxsie in my younger years, but it was stunning the way a 45 year old woman could enrapture an entire room with the perfect balance of sexuality and sheer female power.

3. Pine Knob, Michigan, 1991 Grateful Dead. I bought some tickets from someone right before the show. The tix ended up being bunk, and my friend, Tarryl and I got chased by security when they found a vial of liquid LSD in his fanny pack. I had been wearing shoes that were too small for me all day and as a result, had blisters all over my feet. We went to the first aid bus- which happened to be inside the amphitheatre area. After I got my feet tended to, Tarryl and I stepped off the bus and gleefully walked up to the show. I can't remember the set, but I was just so damn happy to be watching the boys.

What's your favorite colour?
Lavender

What's your favorite food?
Chocolate

Do you have a motto?
"There is purpose in the process"

What group contributed the most to the "rock" of the last millennium?
Sounds like an MTV question- if I had to choose one band for a whole entire millennium, I'd have to say Led Zeppelin, but you never know- there could of been some kick ass rock in the early 1900's that I'm not aware of.

Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Nags Head, NC, mp18

How do you spend a day off?
If it's warm, I'm usually on the dock of the lake I live on with a good book and my dog.

Do you have any non musical hobbies?
I've got mad skillz when it comes to thrift store shopping, and I do yoga almost every day.

If you could play with any other musician or group of all time, who would it be?
Chick Webb Orchestra

Got any tattoos? Describe.
Tattoos?!? Tattoos are for heathens!

What's the worst lie you've ever told?
I never lie.

Worst job you ever had?
For 8 months I masqueraded as a grown up filming insurance policies onto microfiche. I still have nightmares to this day.

What's your sign, baby?
DO NOT TRESPESS!

Name your poison.
Kettle One, straight up, sometimes some ice cubes and a lime as to not scare people

What's it like, being in a band with the other members of Clare Quilty? Being in this band has taught me a lot of valuable lessons pertaining to dealing with difficult people (of course I include myself). I love these people as if they were from the same gene pool- but you know- thank the holy lord that they are actually not. In all seriousness- it's been a complete honour.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a musician?
I don't think I ever realized it. Does "just singing" constitute being a "musician" guess so- I do make noise. No, there was no realization. I always have sung, it's like breathing to me. The fact that I've done it in a creative organized outlet for the past 7 years- well I suppose I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

When did you first get excited about music?
Hmmmmm I guess when I began stealing 45's of Kiss from my brother's room after he left for school, I would take them to my (Mennonite ha ha) nursery school and turn all my fellow 5 years olds onto Detroit Rock City.

What excites you now?
Regarding music? Uhhhh dunno, learning that there was an angel out there named Norah Jones was pretty groovy. Regarding life? Shoes, baby, it's all about the shoes.
